Heavy Vehicle Driving Instructor Course:
The TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training is the nationally recognized qualification needed to become a professional driving instructor in Australia. It teaches you how to train others to drive heavy vehicles.
This course is for Heavy Vehicle operators who wish to up-skill and become an instructor. This course is a mix of online and classroom based training.

Duration:
Option 1 - Intensive, accelerated program, is typically 5 x 8 hour days of instruction.
5 Day Face to face Workshop - Theory and Practical - Truck / Car (Monday to Friday)
Option 2 - Self paced, online 24/7 plus 2 Days of Practical Training.
Online + 2 Days Practical - Truck / Car (1 to12 months)

Eligibility: Current Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence Type 'O'
Requirements & Details:
- Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to sit the assessment, and be proficient in English
- Photo ID, and wear appropriate clothing and closed in shoes
- Participants will be required to undergo a Police History Check, Traffic History Check, and possibly a Medical Check if required. This is completed by Transport Main Roads (TMR) who may refuse to grant accreditation to a person who has been convicted of a criminal offence, or is currently charged with a criminal offence and the charge has not fully been disposed of.
- Participants must hold a current and unrestricted drivers license for a period of 1 year or more. Type 'O' only.
- Literacy and numeracy test will be required
- Self-paced theory training and assessment
- Face to face practical training and assessment
- Students have a maximum of 12 months to complete the program, as a guide most students complete the course within 2 months.
Packaging Rules:
Each student must complete each of these five core units:
- TAEASS311 Contribute to assessment
- TAEDEL311 Provide work skill instruction
- TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures
- TLIG2007 Work in a socially diverse environment
- TLII0005 Apply customer service skills
Each student must complete each of these
four heavy vehicle training specific units:
- TLIC0033 Apply low risk heavy vehicle driving behaviours
- TLIF0005 Apply a fatigue risk management system
- TLIM0011 Conduct heavy vehicle driver training
- TLIM0018 Develop low risk heavy vehicle driving behaviours in others
Each student must complete only
one heavy vehicle driving unit from the list below:
- TLIC2002 Drive light rigid vehicle
- TLIC3003 Drive medium rigid vehicle
- TLIC3004 Drive heavy rigid vehicle
- TLIC3005 Drive heavy combination vehicle
- TLIC4006 Drive multi-combination vehicle
Each student must complete only
one elective unit from the list below, OR one unit which contributes to the vocational outcome of the qualification:
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- TAEASS412 Assess competence
- TAEDEL411 Facilitate vocational training
- TAEDES412 Design and develop plans for vocational training
- TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies
- TLIF4066 Implement and supervise transport regulations compliance systems
- BSBINS309 Maintain business records
- TLIL2060 Complete induction to the transport industry
- TLIL4009 Manage personal work priorities and professional development
Outcome:
- After a successful competency assessment through all units of this course, you will receive a testamur TLI41225 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training (Heavy Vehicle) and record of results issued by Queensland Transport and Logistics Training Pty Ltd (QTLT) NVR RTO 40931
