After training with Brisbane Truck School, I realised how significant the difference in teaching quality can actually be. The training quality is extremely high, structured, and practical. Everything was explained clearly and step by step, and I was properly prepared for every part of the test. They also provided all the information I needed in a very transparent and organised way, including location details, timing, payment, ID requirements, and both written and practical test preparation. Nothing was unclear or left out. All trainers and staff were exceptionally friendly, patient, and professional throughout the entire process, which made a huge difference in my confidence and performance. I was on the cancellation standby list for my HR licence and got the call on a Monday afternoon for a slot the very next morning.I met my instructor, Karaleah, at 4:30 AM in Wynnum for a 4-hour intensive training block. Karaleah was fantastic—courteous, incredibly patient, and very clear with her instructions.The training was perfectly structured:First 2 Hours: Focused on familiarization with the truck's controls and gaining spatial awareness while navigating the quirky streets of Wynnum.Second 2 Hours: After a quick break, we headed out into peak-hour traffic on the Gateway Hwy. Karaleah’s coaching made me feel much more comfortable, even while mastering the air brakes, which definitely take some getting used to!I headed straight to the TMR for my 1hr test feeling confident. Given that clipping a curb is an instant fail and you're only allowed 8 demerits, the stakes are high. Thanks to Karaleah’s expert prep, I passed with minor demerits regarding those "air brake" control.If you want an instructor who actually prepares you for the realities of the road and the strictness of the TMR test, ask for Karaleah!

I chose BTS after reading the reviews online and seeing great feedback about the trainers. I had a great experience with Dean - whilst I was coming in green and with a history of test anxiety, he had such a wealth of knowledge to impart. I liked that he gave a great focus on teaching for future context and didn't just focus on the test, but how I would need to drive for particular roles and employers. All in all I think I learned a lot, and I was stoked to pass the exam the first time around (unlike my Open C Class 10+ years ago). Looking back, I think I would have been better to do shorter lessons over a longer period of time - it would have given me more confidence in the moment, as well as being better energised to do the test. A packed lunch / snacks were vital for a solid energy boost before jumping in to the exam, particularly after being switched on, soaking up as much information as possible for 4 hours prior.
