Requirements & Details:

• Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to sit the assessment, and be proficient in English
• Participants must hold a current Australian Heavy Vehicle drivers licence (LR, MR, HR, HC or MC)
• Photo ID, and wear appropriate clothing and closed in shoes
• A short literacy and numeracy test will be required
• Assessment type: Theory and Practical
• After a successful competency assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Queensland Transport and Logistics Training Pty Ltd (QTLT) NVR RTO 40931. 

Course Outline:

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate a container side lifter (swing lifter and/or side loader).

• Efficient driving techniques
• Engine power management and safe driving strategies
• Pre-operational checks carried out on side lifter and ancillary equipment
• Relevant national heavy vehicle legislation and regulatory requirements
• Relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental procedures and regulations
• Relevant personal protective equipment for side lifter operations
• Relevant state/territory road traffic authority road rules, regulations, permit and licence requirements
• Side lifter vehicle handling procedures
• Workplace driving and operational instructions
