New Drivers Course (Safe Driver Course) Courses

This course is for Heavy Vehicle operators or new Heavy Vehicle drivers who wish to up-skill in the area of safety. This course is a mix of online and classroom based training.

Requirements & Details:

• Participants must be a minimum of 17 years of age to sit the assessment, and be proficient in English
• Photo ID, and wear appropriate clothing and closed in shoes
• A short literacy and numeracy test will be required
• Assessment type: Theory and Practical
• After a successful competency assessment, you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Queensland Transport and Logistics Training Pty Ltd (QTLT) NVR RTO 40931.

Outcomes:

• TLIA1001 - Secure cargo
• This unit covers skills and knowledge required to secure cargo in accordance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
•  
• TLID0015 - Load and unload goods/cargo
  • This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to load and unload goods in accordance with relevant state/territory roads and traffic authority regulations/permit requirements

• TLIB0002 - Carry out vehicle inspection
• This unit covers skills and knowledge required to carry out an inspection of a commercial vehicle in accordance with relevant workplace procedures.

• TLIF0005 - Apply a fatigue risk management system
• This unit covers skills and knowledge required for heavy vehicle drivers to manage fatigue and to work safely within the Transport and Logistics industry

• TLIF0009 - Ensure the safety of transport activities (Chain of Responsibility)
• This unit covers skills and knowledge required to identify, apply and follow chain of responsibility legislation, regulations and workplace procedures in relation to heavy vehicles.

Apply for Training Funding

Bert Funding - If you are a member of BERT and meet the BERT Training Fund (BTF) eligibility criteria, you can apply for a training subsidy.  Please note no funds are deducted from your BERT account to cover the cost of your training.  Your BERT account is only used as a reference to determine the amount of funding we will authorise. You can apply online by visiting www.btfund.org.au and selecting ‘Apply Here’ for Training Grants.  Submit your application and if successful, you will receive written confirmation of your grant and the amount to be funded.
